Overflowing chapel for Holy Week

April 18, 2022

Our little chapel was filled to overflowing for Holy Week!  We began with Palm Sunday/Sunday of the Passion when cellist, Patrick Moore, joined Joey McGee to bring us beautiful music amidst our waving palms.  We moved off site to Festival Hill where just over 100 people joined us for our Good Friday service with the Elias Haslanger Quartet bringing us John Coltrane’s acclaimed A Love Supreme. And in anticipation of a large turnout, we held two services on Easter morning with combined attendance of 147.

Patrick Moore (on cello) and Joey McGee collaborated on Palm Sunday and brought us a beautiful rendition of Bob Dylan’s To Make You Feel My Love.

Our Good Friday service of music and meditations took place at the Edythe Bates Old chapel on the Festival Hill campus. The Elias Haslanger Quartet performed John Coltrane’s A Supreme Love, and their outstanding ability was matched by their obvious passion for the music.

Front man, Elias Haslangar, on saxophone, with Ryan Hagler, Eddie Hobizal, and Daniel Dufour

We were blessed with record attendance on both services Easter Sunday morning! The 10:45 was so packed that rather than shepherd everyone back into the chapel following Communion, Fr Bill gave the blessing from the porch!

A beautiful ending to our Easter service
Fr Bill’s sermon included the story of his “miracle dog”, Sinbad!
Joey McGee’s Easter offertory was Van Morrison’s When Will I Ever Learn to Live in God. He was joined by percussionist Dr. Adam Saenz.
